The Appearance of Improriety

March 12, 2008

Stonecutters

Looks like the city council is set to meet privately with Karp Thursday evening, and while it sounds to me like it violates the open meeting law, they say it doesn’t, so i suppose we should just take their word for it. Do you think any of the councilors that attend the “meet and greet” will ask him any tough question during the presentation? I doubt it.

  1. Your title says it all. When dealing with the public trust elected and appointed officials need to understand that the perception of a conflict of interest is nearly as bad as a conflict of interest itself.

  2. An additional comment here, a councilor just contacted me to let me know mayor has now pulled the plug on this ill-advised private pre-meeting with Karp.
